In laminectomies the vertebral arch is removed to give additional access to the spinal cord or to relieve pressure on particular segments. Micro Kerrison Detachable Rongeur is a specialized instrument ideally suited for use in laminectomy procedures. It features small handles and regular footplate and is 40 degrees up which allows it to comfortably maneuver in the narrow spaces in and around the vertebral column. Laminectomies are performed for a number of reasons. Some include increased access to a particular region of the spinal cord by removing the vertebral arch of a series of vertebrae or to reduce pressure on a particular portion of the vertebral column. This instrument is available in 7", 8" or 9" as well as in a variety of bite widths and with or without an ejector making it highly versatile and well suited for a number of surgical scenarios.

Also known as Love-Style Kerrisons, they feature traditional large handles and a 15.0 mm bite opening, unlike the smaller Micro Kerrison styles. This model also features a black ceramic surface treatment which provides unparalleled hardness and durability. The black ceramic coating is designed to reduce the friction between metal surfaces, providing surgeons with a smooth, steady gliding action and a longer-lasting rongeur. The dark finish also reduces glare under operating room lights. Additionally it is available in 6", 7", 8", 9", 10" and 11" and at either 40 degrees or 90 degrees up or down making it well suited for a vast array of surgeries that require manipulation of very small and delicate tendons and cartilage.

Handle for Improved Rotating Kerrison Rongeurs come in both the stainless steel and ceramic coated finish. These handles are to be used in conjunction with the Improved Rotating Kerrison shafts, which are sold separately. The no-spring design handle design elimates the risk of broken springs or caught gloves.
